“ We had a really memorable and lovely dinner at Heritage while visiting Long Beach. Had no trouble getting reservations on a Wednesday night for 3 a day ahead of time. It's located in a quiet neighborhood in an assuming building, but the service starts right at the door. We were welcomed and ushered into our dining room, which was quiet but classy. All the food and drinks came out with the right pacing, and servers were happy to chat and explain the dishes in detail when we asked questions. My favorite dish was the hen of the woods mushrooms - so unique, balanced, and scrumptious. I can't say enough good things about our dinner!!! ”

“ Phenomenal dining experience, definitely worthy of their Michelin star and the price tag. We sat at the chef's counter, which meant we not only got to watch everything happening in the kitchen but were even treated to a special dish reserved just for our seats. The dishes were all thoughtful, creative, and well executed. It was especially amazing to watch the chef at each station really putting their hearts and souls into getting their part done right. (We even saw some dishes get redone because the chef wasn't fully satisfied with his/her work.) Every dish was delicious but some of the standouts were the Dungeness crab and pineapple pickle appetizers, farm beets with fennel and yogurt, grilled kingfish with artichoke and mussel emulsion, scallop with smoked trout roe, and 32 day dry aged rib chop. Everything was perfectly cooked but the fish, scallop and rib chop were really something else. We normally won't order any type of steak in the U.S. because we spend a lot of time in the Basque Country and nothing beats their Txuleta steak (pronounce "chuleta"). However, this is a set menu so we had no choice and this may end up being the best U.S. beef dish we've ever had, so kudos to the chef who was handling the grill. (She also was cooking the scallops, which were amazing too.) Along with the meal, we had a non-alc sparkling chard and an excellent locally produced lager beer, which went well with everything. (This is usually true of lagers but not IPAs, so keep that in mind when ordering beer to go along with food.) Next time we'll go with the very affordable wine pairing because we would love to see how it goes with the food, but were taking it easy on the alcohol that night. And to wrap up, we had three desserts, with the corn ice cream with salty caviar being our favorite. The ingredients are all super fresh, with many coming from their nearby farm, and even though we left stuffed, we did not feel heavy or uncomfortable. And we were told they change the whole menu quarterly but switch out individual dishes as certain key items come in and out of season. We have found some American Michelin starred restaurants to be over priced but not at Heritage. It is worth every penny. ”

“ The tasting menu was awesome and had a lot of variety; the ingredients were seasonal with well-thought-out combinations and the flavors were unique on each dish. The staff were all very friendly and overall the service was very attentive and on point. Highly recommended! ”

“ I took my parents there before they went back home. Overall very good experience (I would give it a 4.8). The food is of very high quality and totally worth the money. Some of my favorite include the scallop, sweetbread, and dried aged beef. Their dessert is also delicious. Service is ok. Nit: they only have one restroom. ”

“ I will start off by saying this was my first time dining at a Michelin starred restaurant. My city doesn’t have any listing at all on the Michelin Guide. So, me and my girlfriend decided to take advantage on our trip to Long Beach to visit Heritage. We made our reservations a few weeks ahead of time. Two days before our reservation I received a text requesting any dietary restrictions and confirmation we were still coming. I appreciated this, as I didn’t have to call and confirm if my reservations made through Open Table had in fact been booked. Our reservation was for 6:15pm on a Friday in early September. Unfortunately, we chose a weekend where a heatwave was hitting Long Beach. We arrived at 6:00 pm and I missed the valet stand as I almost passed the place as I wasn’t paying attention. I decided to just look for a parking spot myself. But the street I turned on was narrow and absolutely full with no parking. I had to circle the block and we decided to simply valet to make it easy to get into the restaurant on time. We handed the car over and walked up to the hostess. She was professional and cordial and walked us inside. She allowed us to choose which table we wanted. As we sat we quickly realized that the open door was that was for a reason, it was warm inside. Heritage is set in what appears to be a converted home. It’s small and charming. But as a person who prefers cool to warm/hot, the temperature seemed warm and stale. There was no air conditioning or fans. I assume this is normally not an issue in Long Beach but this day it seemed to be. After a few minutes I seemed to cool down and the warmth didn’t ruin my experience. Our server was incredibly friendly and informative. The tasting menu began and the each serving was layered with flavors and delicious. I appreciated the pacing between each offering. When we had a question or two about a particular ingredient, our server (I wish I remembered her name to give her credit) was completely in the know and explained what it was, where it was sourced and how it played with the other ingredients. I enjoyed my time at Heritage and I would definitely come back as I appreciated the experience and flavors that was provided. At the end of the night I had no complaints. As we walked out to the valet I realized I had no cash. We asked if they accepted credit cards and they did not. They did accept Venmo or Zelle. The valet was personable and patient with us as we sent the payment. Overall time at the restaurant was about 2 hours. ”

“ We went to Heritage to celebrate my birthday and had the most wonderful time. The honeycomb ice cream we agreed was one of our favorite bites of food, period. “ Overall a very nice food experience. I sat on the kitchen side, so I agree with some reviews that there is smoke especially during main course preparing time. The foods are actually amazing. I especially like sashimi, the octopus skewer, trout main course, the mushroom dish, and both sweets (waffle and caviar ice cream). Love the creativity. Portion is not small. Only the dry aged beef was too fat - maybe chef can better pick those with evenly distributed fat pieces. ”
